A reminder about pride
Kemarin nonton film Seven Years in Tibet (1997)..True story of Heinrich Harrer, an Austrian mountain climber who became friends with the Dalai Lama at the time of China's takeover of Tibet.
Trus terpesona ama percakapan antara Heinrich Harrer-pendaki gunung asal Austria (Brad Pitt) dan Pema Lhaki (Lhakpa Tsamchoe), wanita Tibet.
Suatu saat Harrer menyombongkan diri ke Pema Lhaki soal kehebatannya sebagai pendaki gunung ternama yang udah banyak berhasil mendaki gunung tertinggi ..lalu Pema Lhaki hanya berkata begini (kurang lebih ),
Heinrich Harrer: That's the Olympic gold medal. Not important.
Pema Lhaki: This is another great difference between our civilization and yours. You admire the man who pushes his way to the top in any walk of life, while we admire the man who abandons his ego.
